We’ll be out of the Store Saturday and Sunday, as we’re helping out at the IU Lan War on the 15th & 16th instead.  I’d very much like to encourage any of you to come out to it.  It’ll be free for tabletop gaming, and we’re holding at least 2 8′ tables for our tabletop use.

I’ll be there starting at Noon, and won’t leave until at least midnight, so there will be plenty of gaming opportunity.  We could really use some extra hands out on tables, showing off what the various hobby games are, if you’ve got time to come by and play a game, or just watch/roll a few dice for a few minutes.

If you’re into the console or PC gaming scenes, I’d recommend registering for the whole event.  It’ll be $15 at ( http://www.iugaming.com/lanwar), and the prizes and free food alone is worth the entry fee.  The location is 900 N Fee Lane, in the Briscoe Dormitory South Dining Hall.  Parking is free at the stadium lot across 17th st.

Beyond that, lots of new Chaos Mortals stuff out, and the new GW catalog will be out Friday.  Get us those orders, and let us know ahead of time if you want a copy of the catalog.

In a surprising move, The Topps Company announced today that WizKids will immediately cease operations - http://www.wizkidsgames.com/wk_article.asp?cid=41914

Alliance and Diamond, meanwhile, will continue to service on-hand inventory, including the recent Arkham Asylum release for DC HeroClix, In addition, both companies will work with Topps to fulfill all promised Organized Play and Arkham Asylum Buy It By The Brick promotions.

“We are disappointed by this very unexpected news,” said Daniel Hirsch, President of Alliance Game Distributors. “We have enjoyed a great relationship with WizKids, and together have brought great products and promotions to thousands of retailers in the U.S. and Canada.”

Games Workshop has just announced a significant price increase to much of their product line to combat increased production costs.

Here’s the timetable:

On Monday August 25th a message informing end hobbyists will be placed on all of our websites.

Prices will change September 29th.

The full price change sheet is 11 pages long, but we’ll be happy to share individual price changes if needed.  Most of the prices fall into these areas however:

Paints will increase from $3 to $3.5, including Foundation, and washes.  Metallics will not be affected.
Primers will increase from $10 to $15, except roughcoat, which will become $17.
Codexes and Army Books will shift from $22 to $25.
Blisters will shift a price code, for a $2-3 increase in price (8-10, 10-12, 12-15, 15-17,17-20, etc).
Most Metal Boxed sets will increase $5 in price (20-22, 22-25, 25-30, 30-35, etc)
Paint sets, templates, and other misc product will also increase, generally in the same manner as above.

NO PLASTIC SETS are affected by this price change, including each game’s starter boxed set (which are all plastic).

Any orders into us before this price change will remain at their current prices, assuming we can get them in stock that quickly.
Any Direct Sales orders are highly recommended to be placed within the next week or two weeks, to combat their processing delays

That’s right!  2 Games Day, and a LOONG break later, the summer campaign continues.  This round’s villianous powers come in the form of Eldar.  Silent, mysterious, and withholding secrets from the Emperor’s Finest.  Only the purging fires of the Witch hunters and Lucky 13 can reveal the Eldar secrets in time!

It’s time for the local Midwest Games Day.

Again, the entire staff of the store is going, so we’ll be closed Friday July 25th until Monday July 28th.  Thanks to everybody coming along, and we’re expecting a GREAT Time.

Those of you who’ve been around the store the last few months know that we’ve been secretly playing along with the 5th Edition Rules for 40K, but this is the ultimate!  It’s the actual launch date of the latest edition, which is proving game after game to be an excellent system, and a wonderful core re-write!

So swing by, play, pick up your gamer’s edition, hardback copy, or new counters set, and really enjoy the new edition!

We’ll also save a table or two for the Fantasy players, and may even see a LOTR game, if Eric can convince me to dust off the minis!

Once again, the entire staff of 3sd Games is packed up, and off to Baltimore for a Games Day weekend.  The store will remain closed until Monday, when we return with great stories, pictures, and more minis than any responsible store owners should buy!

Welcome back!  The Big Lucky 13th Campaign is back!  This time everybody’s favorite Imperial Guard Company faces off against heretical Chaos Space Marines, daemons, and their ilk.

Well, it’s been a LONG time since I posted, though I’ve been trying to keep the Local Gamers Mailing list up to date on happenings.

This coming Month (April) is the 25th Anniversary of Warhammer, and we’re going to throw a BIG (and I mean massive!!!) Warhammer Fantasy Game to celebrate. Using the new Legendary Battles Rules, we’ll play a massive Lustria themed game on our New Jungle Terrain, and all comers are invited to attend and participate.

Don’t have a Warhammer Army? Never played it before? Don’t worry. We’ve got loaners, and we’re more than happy to help you play along!
